Solid Gold, Gold Filled & Gold Plated

Hi friends,

I wanted to provide a simple clarification on differences of solid gold, gold filled, gold plated metals used in our shop.

Solid gold is the  the highest quality of gold jewelry there is, solid gold jewelry can last a lifetime. However, it is important to know what karat gold you are purchasing as not all solid gold is pure gold. 24K is the purest gold - this is the highest karat level for gold which means it is 100% pure gold but it is the softest hence easier to bend. 18K gold is 75% gold & 25% other metals, 14K gold is 58.3% gold & 41.7% other metals (what we offer) & 10K gold is 41.7% & 58.3% other metals (may be offered at times).

Gold filled is a beautiful more affordable alternative to solid gold as it is a genuine layer of gold permanently bonded onto base metal with heat and pressure that contains 100+ times more gold than gold plated. Gold filled is extremely durable, won't chip or flake, tarnish-resistant, and a great alternative to expensive solid gold jewelry. Gold-filled jewelry can also be worn by people with sensitive skin since its 100% Hypoallergenic, Lead and nickel free.

Gold plated pieces are plated over stainless steel, sterling silver & brass. It is recommended to remove most if not all of your gold plated jewelry if you decide to get into water or spray perfume on. Our Gold plated are hypoallergenic for the most part, but if you have a skin allergy to brass I would not recommend to purchase.

Metals used: brass, stainless steel, sterling silver
