Here's a simple clarification on the differences between solid gold, gold-filled, and gold-plated metals:
Solid gold is the highest quality of gold jewelry there is, solid gold jewelry can last a lifetime. Solid gold is made entirely of gold, with no other metals mixed in, except for alloys to strengthen it ,14k gold is 58.3% gold & 18k gold is 75% gold. Our most used Karat is 14K, however, we may occasionally use 10K or 18K. Solid gold is the most valuable and expensive option due to its purity and longevity.
Gold filled is a beautiful more affordable alternative to solid gold as it is a genuine layer of gold permanently bonded onto base metal with heat and pressure that contains 100+ times more gold than gold plated. Gold-filled is extremely durable, won't chip or flake, is tarnish-resistant, and is a great alternative to expensive solid gold jewelry. Gold-filled jewelry can also be worn by people with sensitive skin since it is 100% Hypoallergenic, Lead and nickel-free. It offers a balance between quality and affordability. It looks and feels like solid gold but at a lower price.
Gold-plated pieces are plated over stainless steel, sterling silver & brass. It is recommended to remove most if not all of your gold-plated jewelry if you decide to get into water or spray perfume on it. Our Gold plated are hypoallergenic for the most part, but if you have a skin allergy to brass I would not recommend purchasing.
